Butter, sugar, flour and vanilla mixed together to create a wonderful melt in your mouth shortbread cookie that is easy to bake and easy to enjoy!

Ingredients
  • 6 ounces butter (3/4 cup)
  • ½ cup white granulated sugar (3½ ounces)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla
  • 1¾ cup all purpose flour (8 ounces)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • sanding sugars for sprinking, white, red, green as desired
Instructions
  1. Cream butter and sugar
  2. Add vanilla
  3. Mix in flour and salt until combined and a stiff dough forms.
  4. Form 20 cookies using a small cookie scoop or use one Tablespoon for each cookie. Scoop dough into tablespoon. Remove dough from scoop or tablespoon and roll with hands until smooth.
  5. Place cookies on parchment or silpat lined cookie sheet and press down using cookie stamp, fork tines or a glass dipped in sugar to flatten just slightly.
  6. Sprinkle with desired sugars, use white sanding sugar or red/green sugars for holiday cookies.
  7. Bake at 300 degrees for 25 minutes.
  8. Spinkle additional sugar after baking if desired.
Notes
You can also sprinkle in mini chocolate chips, dried cranberries, toffee chocolate chips etc to dough for flavored shortbread cookies.
